About Me

Hi there! My name is Aarna, and I’m a senior at Freeman High School’s Center for Leadership, Government, & Global Economics in Richmond, Virginia.

Growing up, I’ve always been asked, “Are you a STEM person, or do you enjoy social sciences?” As both a math nerd and policy geek, this question always had me stumped. I didn’t understand why I had to be one or the other. Through EconoMath, I aim to replace “or” with “and.” After all, our world isn’t binary, so why should our approach to education and research be?

Through EconoMath’s various avenues—be it the virtual shadowing sessions or blog posts—I hope you can recognize the beauty in how we can use mathematical tools and discovery to provide insight into greater social science phenomena through economics research.

I hope EconoMath provides you with the ability to see beyond the compartmentalized viewpoints that education tends to place on us and that it compels you to recognize the wide possibility of interdisciplinary connections that can be made. Thank you!
